AI Zone Report January 2024

The AI Zone ran in January and February 2024 and was funded by the Royal Institution.

Scientists

The activity featured 36 scientists working with AI and machine learning in applications of satellite communications, gaming and business innovation.

Students

714 students from across the UK took part. 628 students (88%) actively participated by writing Chat lines and asking follow up questions. 79% of active students were from priority schools.

Live Chats

52 Chats were booked, 40 took place.

On average, 3 scientists took part in each Chat.

What is I’m a Scientist?

I’m a Scientist, Get me out of here is an online activity where school students get to meet and interact with scientists.

It’s a competition between scientists, where the students are the judges.

Students challenge the scientists over intense, fast-paced, online live Chats. Then they Ask the scientists all the questions they want to, and Vote for their favourite scientist to win a prize of £500 to communicate their work with the public.
